Job Summary:

The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF), a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit organization, is seeking a part-time Communications and Development Intern to join our Communications and Development teams this summer. The ideal candidate is a strong writer; familiar with social media platforms, digital marketing tools, websites, and donor databases; and is interested in learning the ins and outs of nonprofit communications and fundraising. This position will report directly to the Digital Marketing Manager (Communications) and the Development Manager (Development). 


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create youthful and engagement content and campaigns on AGF’s TikTok account
  • Support drafting and scheduling content on AGF’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts
  • Draft and deploy email newsletters, including our Voting Rights Roundup
  • Update AGF’s media list with campus, state, and national contacts
  • Transcribe episodes of our Live the Legacy podcast for our website
  • Draft blog posts and stories about AGF and its programs for the website
  • Update and populate new sections of AGF’s website
  • Research state election dates and deadlines for AGF’s my.VoteEverywhere portal
  • Assist with creating new my.VoteEverywhere campus pages and updating existing ones
  • And more as assigned


  • Assist with the administrative and organizational details of the Development department
  • Support event planning including outreach, timelines, and production
  • Clean donor data and conduct data entry in SalsaCRM
  • Draft donor solicitation, email outreach and appeals
  • Write and update materials including thank you/substantiation letters, grant forms and renewals, campaign materials for the organization
  • Asist with development of in-kind donation requests
  • Revise pitch decks and create other pieces of content for donors
  • And more as assigned

Team Member Expectations:

  • Execute all tasks assigned by supervisor or project leader diligently, on schedule, and to the highest standard
  • Work with team members to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets
  • Participate in meetings and voice concerns as well as suggestions for improvement
  • Answer or escalate concerns and queries from collaborators or other stakeholders
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism while representing the organization
  • Manage your time effectively by prioritizing urgent tasks



Education and Experience:

  • Some college or Bachelor’s degree
  • Interest to learn or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Google Drive
  • Graphic design, video editing, WordPress, or Salsa CRM and Salsa Engage experience a plus
  • Interest in civic engagement and social justice

  • Maintain daily access to internet connectivity, computer, smart phone, or tablet



July 18-September 16, Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00am–12:00pm and 12:30pm–3:30pm CST with a 30-minute lunch break each day (18 hours/week for 9 weeks)" 



This is an unpaid position. The intern will receive a stipend of $3,000 at the conclusion of the 9-week internship.
